Whinging to
bogwitch over lunch last week, I complained that I'd never won an award from a 'judged' award site, only at one where readers can vote. Then hot on the heels of the nomination for Dancing the Night Away, this

but it didn't seem fitting given the news about
nandibble. Then I remembered why I started writing fanfic in the first place. It was through reading good writers like Nan, Mary and
onetwomany that I decided to give it a go when
buffyx threw down a challenge back in early 2003.
So, whoever nominated Family: Blood Calls to Blood at
Serenity at the Hellmouth, in the Spike Category, I am really very honoured and pleased.
I'm up against a lot of talented writers, and much of the nominated work is in the Adults Only rating, so I have little doubt that I won't win anything, but a nomination for writing Spike is the greatest compliment anyone can pay me.
As the Champagne, Cider and Chocolates weekend of March 17th draws nearer, I'm hoping the sun will come and lift our spirits for a relaxing couple of days with good company, much video watching and lots of R&R (and possible wearing of the green, in MWNN's honour, given that he's buggering off to Italy to allow us a man-free house in which to indulge our Spike lust studies.

having whinged - a lot - on
calove's LJ about how many nominations I hadn't received for Soul Searching, I was thrilled when I discovered that it wasn't her who nominated it on the
for Best Gen. (no ship) and Most Unique Plot. I'm up against some very stiff competition so it's a great honour to have been nominated. Thank you whoever it was made the first nomination for my WIP. It has made me very happy to think that there are more than three people reading it.
I found the lovely icon I'm using for this entry yesterday. It's by
thesuthernangel. It won't replace this one
on a base by
myfeetshowit, but it was quite a thrill spotting the title of the fic on an icon made by someone who doesn't read my work.
Another reason for the bouncy mood is that MWNN has offered to go away for a weekend in March (11th and 12th) to allow me to have a motivational writing session with 'the girls'.
calove has already said she'd liked to come over (pending confirmation from the SO) and I was wondering if
bogwitch might like to join us. I'll provide everything, just bring yourself and your notebooks.
